The color white had not been given the reputation it deserved. White and innocence have always gone together. Tobin knew the truth: white taunted. It held within it the possibility of rainbow colors but refused to share. It toyed with those who searched for shades of blues, reds and yellows. Laughing. She never realized how much she loathed white until she was put in the Thought Chamber, located at the rear hallway by the men’s dormitory.
The Thought Chamber was a room of white and isolation, meant to either drive patients to lose their minds, or become docile creatures in hope of being rewarded with freedom. Tobin currently sat on its hard floor, surrounded by thick and soundproofed walls. She had never been inside it before. No one had, at lease not in all the years she’d been at Mendwell. The Thought Chamber had always been a threat, never a reality. Until Dr. Owens.
An unsettling sensation crawled beneath the surface of her skin, like tiny ants tunnelling out a home. It might have appeared like she was alone, but she knew she wasn’t. Someone would be watching her. Monitoring her from the other side of the single white door that kept her captive.
Tobin scanned the ceiling for cameras. She couldn’t find one, but that didn’t mean there weren't any.
The Thought Chamber was her penance for refusing to speak in group therapy. For two weeks Dr. Owens had tried to get her to talk, but she refused. Seeing his smile harden, his jaw clench and tick, made it all worth it. She wasn’t going to be manipulated.
Verse 1:
Close your eyes and dream of me,
The sun has set, no light to see.
You lie there in your bed at night,
Tossing, turning, you’re scared I see.
And here I am watching you,
You’re never safe from me my dear.
For when the moon takes into sky
In my hands is where you’ll lie
Chorus:
I am the terror in your dreams,
I will haunt you constantly
Making you remember
All the things that you fear,
So scream for me my dear.
Verse 2:
Your eyelids fall in sleep, I’m here
To weave your dreams into your fears
To make you live out darkest thoughts
Crawling deep inside your heart
Laughing, I listen
To your scream so shrill with dread.
From what your dreams might bring to you,
And nightmares waiting for time to play
Inside the horrors of your slumber mind.
Chorus:
I am the terror in your dreams,
I will haunt you constantly
Making you remember
All the things that you fear,
So scream for me my dear.
Verse 3:
You’ll never get away from me
Here is where I’ll always be,
No matter how hard you try
I will stay right by your side.
When daylight falls and sleep arrives
Here is where you’ll not survive
And from your dreams, hope I will take
Along with tears in shame you’ll makes
So always remember to
Fall asleep in fear of me.
Chorus 2x:
I am the terror in your dreams,
I will haunt you constantly
Making you remember
All the things that you fear,
So scream for me my dear.
Nightmares forever, you’ll never sleep
I’ll stay forever inside your dreams.
Tobin wasn't sleeping; she was somewhere between awake and asleep. She felt weightless, calm. There was soft humming nearby, falling in waves around her. She felt her body dip. Someone had joined her on the bed.
Words began to replace the humming. Louder. Closer. The voice was gentle, loving. “Close your eyes and dream of me; the sun has set no light to see. You lie there in your bed at night, tossing, turning, you’re scared I see. And here I am, watching you. You’re never safe from me, my dear. For when the moon takes into sky, in my hands is where you’ll lie.”
Tobin shifted. The singing continued, becoming dark, harsh. “I am the terror in your dreams. I will haunt you constantly, making you remember all that you fear, so scream for me, my dear.”
She tried to fight her way out of the haze, but sleep wasn’t ready to let her go. It wanted her to remain helpless.
“Your eyelids fall in sleep, I’m here, to weave your dreams into your fears; to make you live out darkest thoughts, crawling deep inside your heart. Laughing, I listen to your screams so shrill with dread. From what your dreams might bring to you, and nightmares waiting for time to play, inside the horrors of your slumbering mind.”
Tobin’s eyelids flickered.
“You’ll never get away from me; here is where I’ll always be. No matter how hard you try, I will stay right by your side. When daylight falls and sleep arrives, here is where you’ll not survive. And from your dreams, hope I will take, along with tears in shame you’ll make. So always remember to fall asleep in fear of me.”

What the hell?
Ah! My proof copies came in for my first novel. Talk about crazy-exciting. Here is the video of me opening the box to find my book - MY BOOK- inside.
I'm still in shock. To read about my nervous freak-out (that lasted 30 minutes) before I finally opened the book, check out my latest blog.
I might seem calm but the hundred frogs jumping around like mad in my stomach during this video know the truth. ;)
Guys, I held my book!
